Application Process

To apply for the First Commonwealth Scholarship, the following steps must be completed:

1. Applicants should confirm they meet the eligibility requirements.
2. Complete the online application accurately with all required personal, academic, and educational institution details.
3. Submit one Letter of Recommendation on organization/company letterhead.
4. For Adult Learners/Returning Education: Please provide a brief statement as to what you have done in the gap between graduation and returning to school, and how a scholarship is significant to you.

Letter of Recommendation Criteria

A Letter of Recommendation is required in addition to your application. The Letter of Recommendation is to be written by a teacher, leader, or supervisor of the organization for whom you have performed community service or volunteer activities.

The Letter of Recommendation should be completed on the organization or company letterhead and sent directly to FW@firstcomcu.org. Please be sure to include the applicant's name in your submission.

Eligibility Requirements

Students entering this year's application process must qualify with any of the following:

• Must be a high school senior graduating in the current year or an adult learner returning to school (must be a minimum of 1 year post high school).
• Must plan to attend a two- or four-year college, trade school, or alternative full-time education program.
• Must be a member of First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union.

Ineligible applicants include the following categories:

• First Commonwealth employees
• First Commonwealth volunteers
• First Commonwealth Board Members
• Any familly members of the above categories
