Earlier this month, First Commonwealth was honored as a 2024 Financial Literacy Award Winner at the CrossState Credit Union Foundation Leaders in Financial Literacy Luncheon, held during their Connect Annual Convention in Atlantic City, NJ. This prestigious recognition celebrates our impactful partnership with Raub Middle School through our WeThrive LV Foundation Fund.
Our collaboration with Raub Middle School is a cornerstone of our commitment to fostering financial wellness and literacy in the Greater Lehigh Valley. Over the past three years, First Commonwealth has dedicated $100,000 to support various school initiatives, including a school store, 8th-grade graduation ceremonies, and the annual Spring Prom Dance. These efforts aim to enrich the school experience and provide positive community engagement.
A key component of our partnership is the "Money Club," an after-school program designed for 6th graders. This initiative is not just about financial education but also about making learning enjoyable and accessible. With the help of our Financial Wellness Counselors, we offer this program in both English and Spanish, ensuring inclusivity and broad participation.
Additionally, our commitment extends beyond the students to their families. WeThrive conducts evening workshops for parents, covering essential financial topics such as budgeting, saving, credit management, and significant financial decisions. These workshops are designed to educate parents, equipping them with the knowledge to support their families' economic health and to serve as role models in financial decision-making.
"Being recognized at the CrossState Connect Annual Convention is not only an honor but also a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in the WeThrive Foundation," expressed Jim Gagliano, Chief Experience Officer. "It underscores the significant impact of our efforts on the community and motivates us to continue our work in promoting financial literacy. We are proud to receive this award and remain committed to nurturing the financial prosperity of our community."
